Chime: Reminders for Jira

Private reminders on any work item, delivered by Jira.

Chime puts a personal reminder on any Jira work item. A due date is a commitment to the whole team; a reminder is a private nudge to one person, and Jira has nowhere to put one. Chime adds that place, and delivers through Jira's own notification system.

Getting started

  1. Open any work item and expand the Chime panel.
  2. Select + Add reminder.
  3. Choose a time, using a quick pick or an exact date and time.
  4. Add a note explaining why, choose who it is for, and save.

Setting a reminder

Quick picks cover in an hour, tomorrow at 9am, and next Monday at 9am. For anything else, set an exact date and time. A note field travels with the reminder so it arrives with its reason attached rather than as a bare link.

Reminders for other people

Set a reminder for yourself, for the work item's assignee, or for anyone else on your site by searching their name. Reminders you set for other people are listed separately so work you have handed off does not disappear from view.

Your reminders page

Apps › Chime: Reminders shows two tabs: reminders waiting on you, and reminders you have set for other people. Each row shows the time, the work item, and the note. Delete any reminder before it fires.

Delivery

Reminders are delivered using Jira's own notification system, to the address Jira already holds for the recipient, within about five minutes of the chosen time. Chime never stores email addresses and never routes mail through a third party.

Administrator settings

Site administrators can set an accent color used for the reminder panels across every work item.

Permissions and data

Chime reads Jira work items to show context, writes only to trigger Jira's notification for a reminder, stores reminder configuration in Atlassian Forge hosted storage, and reads user information to resolve recipients. The app declares zero external network egress.
