Metronome: Harvest Time Tracking for Jira
Harvest timers in the Jira issue view, with project codes visible.
Metronome brings Harvest time tracking into the Jira work item view. It talks to the Harvest REST API directly rather than embedding Harvest's widget, which is why it can show project codes in the picker and date mirrored worklogs correctly.
Getting started
- Open any work item and, in the Details section, select Log time next to Metronome: Harvest. The panel opens over the sidebar; the back arrow returns to the details.
- Select Sign in to Harvest and approve access on Harvest's own page.
- Choose a project and task, then start a timer or log hours.
Connecting
You sign in on Harvest's own page and approve access. The resulting authorization is held and refreshed by the Atlassian Forge platform; the app never receives your Harvest password or access tokens. If you belong to more than one Harvest account you choose which to use. Disconnect revokes it at any time.
Choosing a project
The project picker shows the Harvest project code next to the project name, grouped by client and searchable. Projects come from your own Harvest project assignments, the same list the official widget shows. The task picker is populated from the selected project's task assignments.
Timers and hours
Start, stop and restart a timer with a live duration, or log fixed hours for any date. Hours accept decimal or clock notation, so both 1.5 and 1:30 work. Notes prefill with the work item key and summary. Metronome supports both Harvest company timer modes.
Entries and worklogs
The panel lists your Harvest entries for the current work item with a running total. Each entry carries an external reference back to Jira, so time is filterable per work item in Harvest and links back. Optionally, logging time also writes a Jira worklog dated to the day you picked.
Administrator settings
Site administrators can control how the project dropdown is presented and set an accent color.
Permissions and data
Metronome is the one HelzBrand app that communicates with a third party. It calls the Harvest REST API on your behalf, sending the work item key and summary, a work item reference and permalink, and the project, task, date and duration you choose. It stores your Harvest account and user identifiers and display names in Forge storage; no credentials are stored. It is not part of the Runs on Atlassian program. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
